Yelp.com Review - by Rachel U.

5 of 5 stars. The seats are small? Gosh, I hadn't noticed =P There aren't many times when being little is a bonus, and yes this is one of them. So it's a little tight, (I don't actually know many theatres where the…

5 of 5 stars. It has been a while since I've been to the Colonial and I forgot how lovely it is inside. Period wallpaper, painted ceiling, gold leaf everywhere. So pretty. The sound was lovely and the view from the…

2 of 5 stars. Good: if you really, really, really like musicals, happen to be a short/very thin person, or have orchestra seats. Bad: if you're kinda ehh when it comes to musicals, are sitting anywhere above the…

5 of 5 stars. I've been to a lot of the theatres on Broadway and the Colonial is their architectural and acoustic equal. The designs are ornate, the sound carries splendidly and the place harnesses that beautiful…

4 of 5 stars. Saw Avenue Q last night, there are a few things I'd like to say about that, but first I'll do the Theatre review. The Colonial Theatre is very aptly named, and is very much a throwback to the good ol'…

3 of 5 stars. The Colonial Theatre is a lot like old school Boston- classic but cramped. It's pretty much your grand parents theater, provided your grand parents were 5'8" or shorter. It's a great venue to see a…

3 of 5 stars. I would have to agree with other reviewers that the seats are really close together and the space is pretty cramped. And, the folks that work there are ridiculous! My sister was rudely yelled at (by…

2 of 5 stars. I have been to the Colonial Theatre twice and both times sat in the Mezzanine level. While both productions were quite good, the seats are inhumanely uncomfortable. Ok so I'm 6'2" and I expect to…

5 of 5 stars. This is as much a review of the theatre as it is for the show I just saw, High Fidelity. The Colonial is a treasure for Boston; it is small and quaint and what true theatre going is all about. When…

Don't Sit In the Balcony!

The Colonial is one of the few theatres which show "professional" sometimes broadway productons. My recommendation is to never sit in the balcony. My opinion is that the seats are very uncomfortable!
